അന്ന് അലി(റ)ക്ക് പത്ത് വയസ്സായിരുന്നു പ്രായം. എട്ടായിരുന്നു എന്ന അഭിപ്രായവും ഉണ്ട്. അതോടൊപ്പം ചെറുപ്പത്തിൽ തന്നെ മുത്ത് നബിﷺ യോടൊപ്പമായിരുന്നതിനാൽ ഒരിക്കൽ പോലും ബിംബത്തെ നമിക്കുകയോ ബഹുദൈവാരാധകരുടെ ആരാധനാ ശീലങ്ങളിൽ പങ്കുചേരുകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല. പ്രാരംഭഘട്ടത്തിൽ അതീവ രഹസ്യമായിട്ടായിരുന്നല്ലോ മുത്തുനബിﷺ ആരാധനകൾ നിർവ്വഹിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ചിലപ്പോൾ സ്വകാര്യമായി ആരാധനയിൽ കഴിയാൻ വേണ്ടി നബിﷺ മലഞ്ചരുവുകളിലേക്ക് പോകുമായിരുന്നു. ആരാധനകൾ കഴിഞ്ഞ് സന്ധ്യയായാൽ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങും. പിതാവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർ അറിയാതിരിക്കുക എന്ന താത്പര്യംകൂടി അതിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോഴെല്ലാം അലി(റ)യും ഒപ്പം ചേരുകയും സ്വകാര്യത കാത്ത് സൂക്ഷിക്കുകയുംചെയ്തു.
എന്നാൽ ഒരിക്കൽ രണ്ടു പേരും ആരാധന നിർവഹിക്കുന്നത് അബൂത്വാലിബിന്റെ ശ്രദ്ധയിൽപെട്ടു. ഉടനെ ചോദിച്ചു. അല്ലയോ സഹോദരപുത്രാ.. എന്തോ മതാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങൾ നിർവഹിക്കുകയാണല്ലോ? എന്താണിത്? നബി ﷺ ഇതൊരവസരമായി കണ്ടു. പിതൃവ്യനോട് തുറന്ന് സംസാരിച്ചു. അല്ലയോ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവരേ.. ഇത് അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ മതമാണ്. അവന്റെ മലക്കുകളുടെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടേയും മതം. ഒപ്പം നമ്മുടെ പിതാമഹനായ ഇബ്റാഹീം നബി(അ)യുടെയും മതം. ഈ മതത്തിലേക്ക് ലോക ജനതയെ ക്ഷണിക്കാൻ അല്ലാഹു എന്നെ നിയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. എനിക്ക് ഏറ്റവും ഗുണകാംക്ഷയോടെ സമീപിക്കേണ്ട വ്യക്തിയാണവിടുന്ന്. ഞാൻ നേർവഴിയിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിക്കാൻ ഏറ്റവും വേണ്ടപ്പെട്ടയാളാണ് താങ്കൾ. ഞാൻ താങ്കളെ ഈ ആദർശത്തിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിക്കുന്നു.
സഹോദര പുത്രന്റെ സംഭാഷണം അബൂത്വാലിബ് ശ്രദ്ധാപൂർവ്വം കേട്ടിരുന്നു. അവസാനം അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. മോനേ എന്റെ പൂർവ്വമതം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ എനിക്ക് കഴിയില്ല. പക്ഷേ, ഒരു കാര്യം ഞാൻ വാക്കു തരാം. മോന് ഞാനൊരു സംരക്ഷകനായിരിക്കും. മോന് പ്രയാസമുണ്ടാകുന്നതൊന്നും ഞാനനുവദിക്കുകയില്ല. ഞാൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുവോളം എന്റെ സഹായം എപ്പോഴും ഒപ്പമുണ്ടാകും.
മറ്റൊരിക്കൽ അബൂത്വാലിബ് മകൻ അലിയോട് ചോദിച്ചു. മോനേ നീ ഈയിടെയായി ആചരിക്കുന്ന മതമേതാണ്.? ഉപ്പാ ഞാൻ അല്ലാഹുവിനെയും അവന്റെ സത്യദൂതനെയും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. പ്രവാചകൻ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതെന്തും സത്യസന്ധമാണെന്ന് ഞാനംഗീകരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ അവിടുത്തോടൊപ്പം നിസ്കാരം നിർവ്വഹിക്കുന്നു. അബൂത്വാലിബ് പറഞ്ഞു. മോനേ നീ മുഹമ്മദ് മോനോടൊപ്പം തന്നെ നീങ്ങിക്കോളൂ. ഏതായാലും മോൻ നന്മയിലേക്കേ കൊണ്ടു പോകൂ...
പിൽക്കാലത്തൊരിക്കൽ അലി(റ) മിമ്പറിൽ വച്ചു കൊണ്ട് അണപ്പല്ലു വെളിവാകും വിധം ഒന്നു ചിരിച്ചു. അബൂത്വാലിബിന്റെ ഒരു വാചകം ഓർത്തിട്ടാണത്രെ അങ്ങനെ ചിരിച്ചത്. അലി (റ) തുടർന്നു.. ഞാനും നബിﷺ യും മക്കയുടെ പ്രാന്ത പ്രദേശമായ 'നഖ്ല'യിൽ വച്ച് സ്വകാര്യമായി നിസ്കരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. യാദൃശ്ചികമായി ഉപ്പ അവിടെ എത്തിപ്പെട്ടു. കുറച്ച് നേരം ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ നോക്കി നിന്നു. ശേഷം ചോദിച്ചു. നിങ്ങൾ എന്താണീ ചെയ്തു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്? നബിﷺ എല്ലാം വിശദമായി അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഇസ്‌ലാമിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിച്ചു. എല്ലാം ശ്രദ്ധാപൂർവ്വം ശ്രവിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു. ഇപ്പറഞ്ഞതൊക്കെ നല്ല കാര്യങ്ങൾ തന്നെ. പക്ഷേ, എന്റെ പൃഷ്ടത്തെ ഉയർത്തി വെക്കാൻ ഞാനെന്തായാലും തയ്യാറല്ല. (നിസ്കാരത്തിലെ സുജൂദിൽ കിടക്കുന്ന രംഗത്തെയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചത്/യഥാർഥത്തിൽ സ്രഷാവിന് മുന്നിൽ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഏറ്റവും മഹത്വമുള്ള അവയവത്തെ (മുഖത്തെ) നിലത്ത് വച്ച് വിനയം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കർമമാണല്ലോ സുജൂദ്) അബൂത്വാലിബിന്റെ പ്രസ്തുത പ്രയോഗത്തെ ഓർത്താണ് മകൻ അലി(റ) ചിരിച്ചത്.
പുരുഷന്മാരിൽ ആദ്യം ഇസ്‌ലാം സ്വീകരിച്ചത് അബൂബക്കർ(റ) തന്നെയാണെന്ന അഭിപ്രായത്തെയും അതല്ല അലി(റ)ആണെന്ന അഭിപ്രായത്തെയും സമന്വയിപ്പിച്ചു മനസിലാക്കേണ്ടതിങ്ങനെയാണ്. അലി(റ) തന്നെയാണ് ആദ്യം സത്യസാക്ഷ്യം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത് എന്നാൽ കുറച്ചു കാലം അത് രഹസ്യമാക്കിവെച്ചു. അബൂബക്കർ(റ) വിശ്വാസം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചപ്പോൾ തന്നെ എല്ലാവരും അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. അപ്പോൾ ഒന്നാമത് രംഗത്ത് അറിയപ്പെട്ടത് സിദ്ദീഖ് എന്നവരും യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ അലി(റ)ഉം ആയിരുന്നു.
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنٰا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلِّمْ

Ali(R) was ten years old at that time. There is also an opinion that it was eight. Since he was with the Prophetﷺ in his youth, he never even once bowed down to an idol or participated in the worship practices of polytheists.
In the early stages, the Prophet ﷺ performed worship in secret. Sometimes, the Prophet ﷺ would go to the mountains to worship in private. He would return to home on the dusk. The secret worship also had the purpose of keeping the uncles from knowing it. All the while, Ali joined with him and maintained privacy.
But once Abu Talib noticed that both of them were worshiping. He immediately asked. Oh brother... are you performing any religious rituals? what is this? The Prophetﷺ saw this as an opportunity. He spoke openly to uncle. O beloved.. This is the religion of Allah. The religion of His angels and prophets. And the religion of our grandfather Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.). Allah has appointed me to invite the people of the world to this religion. You are the person I should approach with the most good wishes. You are the most suitable person to invite to the right path. I invite you to this beautiful path'.
Abu Talib listened carefully to his nephew's conversation. Finally he said, "I can't give up my old religion. But I promise you one thing. I will be a staunch protector. I will not allow anything harmful to happen to you. As long as I live, my help will always be with you."
Another time, Abu Talib asked his son Ali, "My son, what religion do you practice lately? I believe in Allah and His Messenger. I accept that whatever the Prophetﷺ presents is true... I pray with him." Abu Talib said. 'My son keep company with Muhammad, he will lead you only to goodness.
Once Ali (RA) ascended on the 'Mimbar'/rostrum and laughed so much that his molar teeth were exposed. He laughed like that because he remembered a sentence of Abu Talib. Ali (RA) continued.. The Prophet ﷺ and I were praying privately in 'Nakhla', a suburb of Mecca. By chance, my father happened to be there. He looked at our actions. Then asked. What are you doing? The Prophetﷺ explained everything in detail. Invited him to Islam. After listening to everything carefully, he said this. 'All these are good things. But I am not ready to raise my buttock anyway'. (He intended the prostration in prayer. It is really an act of placing face, the most important part of our body to the floor in humility) Son Ali(RA) laughed remembering Abu Talib's statement.
How should we combine the opinion that Abu Bakar(RA) was the first among men to accept Islam and not Ali(RA)?. Ali(R) himself was the first to announce the truth but kept it secret for some time. When Abu Bakar(R) declared his faith, everyone knew it. Then the first known in the public was Sideeq(R) and in reality was Ali (RA).
